Kington Museum depicts the history of the town and outlying districts from prehistoric times. This is achieved through frequently changing exhibitions and displays. At present these include World War I, Farming, Milling, Church Street Through Time, Lady Hawkins School, the 1950s and a fine collection of clocks.

We are volunteer run and reliant on the kindness of donations and grants.

Kington Museum first opened in June 1986 and is housed in what were the stables of the long defunct King’s Head Inn. Various grants and much fund-raising have enabled the museum to expand – it now covers four rooms – and consequently enables many more of the artefacts to be accessible to visitors.

Really enjoyed our visit to this local museum. The staff were very enthusiastic which made it even better. They were happy to point out all sorts of things about the displays. All local to Kington. Some local history books for sale and donations welcome to help continue to run this little gem.
